Bol inšpiráciou pre všetkých. Cyklisti a tímy po celom svete si uctili pamiatku zosnulého Gina Mädera
26-ročný cyklista Gino Mäder zomrel na následky zranení po páde v piatej etape na pretekoch Okolo Švajčiarska.
Švajčiarsky cyklista tímu Bahrain-Victorious spadol v zjazde z Albulapassu, v ktorom dosahovali jazdci rýchlosť cez 100 km/h.
Gina Mädera našli po páde ležať v rokline pod cestou v bezvedomí, museli ho resuscitovať a vrtuľníkom previezť do nemocnice. Lekári cez noc bojovali o záchranu jeho života, no tím v piatok krátko po poludní oznámil, že zraneniam podľahol.
„S hlbokým smútkom a ťažkým srdcom musíme oznámiť úmrtie Gina Mädera. Celý náš tím je z tejto tragickej nehody zdrvený a naše myšlienky a modlitby sú s Ginovou rodinou a blízkymi počas tohto neuveriteľne ťažkého obdobia,“ píše tím Bahrain-Victorious vo vyjadrení.
„Gino bol výnimočný športovec, príklad odhodlania, vážený člen nášho tímu a celej cyklistickej komunity. Jeho talent, obetavosť a nadšenie boli inšpiráciou pre nás všetkých. Nielenže to bol mimoriadne talentovaný cyklista, ale aj skvelý človek mimo bicykla,“ povedal šéf tímu Milan Erzen.
Po tragickej správe o jeho smrti vzdala cyklistická komunita poctu Mäderovmu životu a vyjadrila sústrasť jeho rodine, priateľom a blízkym.
„Gino, ďakujeme ti za svetlo, radosť a smiech, ktorý si nám všetkým priniesol, budeš nám chýbať ako jazdec aj ako človek. Dnes a každý deň jazdíme pre teba, Gino,“ napísal Peter Sagan.
